nitoTV 0.8.6 + Common Media Player framework
Wow, I really need to get working on consistency with posts! I guess I will call this my annual post unless I remember to post again sometime soon.
Anyhow, put out a new build of nitoTV today and I’m pretty excited about the new addition of the Common Media Player framework. Graham Booker of Perian / Sapphire fame and I have collaborated to create an open source framework that currently serves as convenience layer between BackRow and the DVDPlayback framework to enable easy implementation for anyone to leverage the DVDPlayback.framework in their media plugin.
It’s late at night and I got the blog bug so I felt the need to update this space, however in light of it being 2:50 AM this post is going to be short and sweet.
Whats new:
1. DVD Overlays
2. Resume, Main Menu, Start Over:
3. 5.1 AC3/DTS passthrough
as you can see, this list isn’t ordered in any particular fashion since if it was 5.1 passthrough would have probably topped the list.
The AC3 passthrough is enabled by a brilliant plugin developed by Graham that passes the audio through to your receiver when using the DVD framework, and it also enabled me to make some basic modifications to MPlayers ao_coreaudio class to enable the plugin to work with properly formatted files with AC3 in them for passthrough as well. (AVI’s with AC3, VOB files.. etc)
Well I guess thats it. No news for hawkeye or any other Mac applications at the moment, our first iPhone app (not actually our idea, just one we we’re commissioned to write) should hopefully hit the stores soon. Watch this space for more developments with this framework, and any other future developments…
You stay classy san diego.
